How to do a Faux Brick Wall

Sharing is caring!

Here it is. The moment we have all been waiting for. The reason why I decided to start this blog sitch. A faux brick wall tutorial.

The faux brick walls we did in my home are my F A V O R I T E projects by far because they can be as messy as you want, and it completely takes your area to a whole new level when complete; which make this DIY #worthit. Okay…okay…enough with the small talk. Let me get to the good stuff. Keep reading if you would like to attempt the fun, messy project!

Materials You’ll Need:

When you’re ready to begin…

Head to Lowe’s or Home Depot to get your faux brick wall panels. They will be in the plywood section of your store. You will need to grab however many to fit your space. They’re like $35 a sheet which I didn’t think was an awful price to spruce up your space. Be sure to measure and cut out your light switch insert and your plug outlets before nailing to the wall.

Time to Hang…

Once you have cut out the panel to fit your wall and have cut out the outlet/lightswitch space you’re ready to hang this beauty up! You will need two people to hang the paneling up because it’s a tad bit heavy.

Let’s Get Messy!

Once you have your paneling hung, it’s time for the messy part. Bust open the compound and start slapping that junk on your wall. There is no bad way of doing this part which is the B E A U T Y of this DIY. It kills my husband’s TYPE A personality but I just tell him to look away. The process of slapping the compound goes as followed: get a hunk of compound, slap it on there, scrape off excess, R E P E A T. Step back after awhile to check your pattern, and to add chunks where you want to add texture and what not. THAT’S IT! Think of the phrase slap on, scrape off.

Wallah!

Congrats! You have finished your faux brick wall project! I hope it brings you joy as much as mine does. I could stare at it all night and if it wasn’t too weird I probably would. If you have any questions leave a comment below. Thanks for stopping by!

Until we meet again,
