How to Plan Your Trip to Colorado

Sharing is caring!

Hey hey! I am so excited to help you plan your trip to Colorado. We had so much eating, hiking, and enjoying the beautiful scenic drive through the state. Here you’ll find useful tips on how to plan your Colorado vacation. We used Pinterest and Google quite a bit too! Keep reading to see how to plan your trip.

When is the Best Month to Plan Your Trip

We went to Colorado during the month of July, and the weather was perfect. It was 70’s the entire time we were there with little to no rain. This TN girl did not know what to do with the no humidity life. March to May and September-October are the most affordable times, and the temperatures are still chilly but comfortable.

Where to Shop for Your Trip

When I started planning our trip to Colorado, the first shop I thought of was Sun & Ski Sports! They were so kind to sponsor this post. I reached out to them for help picking out our hiking necessities. We went to the store in Franklin, TN where Luci helped us find the perfect hiking shoes and clothes.

What to Pack for Your Trip

Planning a trip to Colorado means lots of trail walks, and rides. I created a collage of the most important things you’ll need for a successful trip to Colorado.

How to pack for Colorado

Hiking Shoes // Sleeveless Top // Long Sleeve Shirt // Chacos // Wool Socks

Black Shorts // Black Pants // Rain Jacket

Best Places to Hike in Colorado

There isn’t really a bad place to hike per say. There are more advanced areas to hike than others. Check below to see where we hiked.

  • Loveland Pass (this one I struggled, it is pretty much all up hill but the view is worth it)
  • Sapphire Pointe
  • Soda Trail Pass
  • Lilypad Lake
  • Georgia Pass (Rented a UTV for this and it was so fun. We rented it for four hours which was perfect)

Best Places to Stay in Colorado

During this trip we chose to stay in Dillon, Colorado. Dillon is such a cute, trendy spot. It is only 20 minutes away from other popular cities such as Breckenridge, Frisco, and Silverthorne. Dillon also has stores in town to shop from, and was so convenient for our trip (aka it had a Target and Starbucks). We chose to stay in Airbnb’s for our trip this time, but this is before I knew many homes in Colorado do not have air conditioner’s. While it’s very cool in this area, your girl needs her room to be below freezing to sleep like a baby. So our next time we go we will stay in a hotel. If you’re cool sleeping without it being freezing in your room an Airbnb should be fine!

Best Places to Eat in Colorado

Below you’ll see a list of our top recommendation for places to eat! Colorado had some of our favorite type of food (part of the reason why we loved our trip so much). Check out our choices below. I will update the list when we check out more.
