Welcome to Prettylittlestyleblog’s new series Workwear Wednesday! Every Wednesday will be a dedicated post to a workwear post! This is my most popular request and with things getting “semi” back to normal (people are going into the office for work), I figured this would be a nice topic to talk about this year. I will also include some work from home outfit options as well. First up, 5 workwear staples for your closet.
Since this is the first post of the series I figured it can be a wardrobe capsule post. I wanted to share some items you can have in your wardrobe that can be mixed and matched with anything.
When building your workwear, keep in mind neutrals for the main pieces work best. If you’re into bold colors and prints we can work with that. Fun prints, and bold colors are great when purchasing fun accessories. Advice when purchasing bold prints, and fun colors don’t spend a ton of money on them. We want to spend our money on items we will get a ton of wear out of like good shoes, good work pants, and a nice handbag.
Now today we are only going 5 staple pieces, but stay tuned we will be adding more to this list for the whole year! Another important thing to remember, these items I am listing are simply suggestions! Wear what makes you feel good and comfortable! So, here are 5 workwear staples every girl should have in her closet.
Blazer
Blazers are so fun to wear! They can elevate any basic outfit. Blazers also make you look way more professional. Especially for zoom meeting haha! I found some really affordable ones from Shein. This site is great for shopping on a budget.
Midi skirt
I love midi skirts! They are fun to wear with a basic tank or body suit. You can also where them year round depending on the pattern or color. I always keep a black one in my closet! Amazon is my favorite place to shop for midi skirts, they have tons of patterns and are very affordable!
Basic Fitted T-Shirts
I love a good basic tee or bodysuit in a neutral color. You can wear them for work or play! Abercrombie is my favorite place to buy a good basic top! I also like Target’s tanks too!
Loose Fit Trousers
Loose fit trousers can be hard to pull off if you’re a curvy girl! Rule of thumb for these is make sure they sit high on your waist. They are so cute and trendy right now. I love when people style them with sneakers or a small heeled bootie! HM has some really cute ones right now!
Flat Shoes
Black flat shoes are a must for your workwear wardrobe capsule! Rule of thumb-get a shoe with a pointed toe! This will elongate your legs and is a much more flattering angle then a round toe shoe! I love a good suede black flat. Target is my go to spot for an affordable option. I also love DSW for a little more higher end option.
